Good times roll outside of Azeroth too!

Just back from a beauteous little vacation with my folks in Lovely Brant Lake.  Always a good time with the parental units.  Quiet, superbly spectacular weather, good food, lots of chat, a visit with some other relations and lots and lots of sleep and R&R.  No ‘net, extremely sporadic email (although it turns out there wasn’t much anyway), no WoW, no work….

I could get used to that mighty quickly.  No problem whatsoever. I tell them I am there to lose at scrabble or canasta but I did manage (thanks Dad for the coaching!) to hold my own on the canasta front one night against Mom!

I went prepared with two melons, the first – a cantaloupe – turned out to be as perfect as they get; peaches and tomatoes; all from Kristy’s Farm in Schodack.  YUMMY.  They describe their peaches as two-napkin peaches for a reason.  Mom thought the tomatoes were from my non-existent garden.  Buy local and support your local farms.  The owner and I had a nice chat on Wednesday about CSAs and their take on them.  I suggested a couple of CSA alternative ideas and was rewarded with my own surprise bonus – an asian pear warm off the tree.  Next year will be the 100th year of that farm being in production, under one family.

Good times roll in Azeroth

I’m at the beginning of some time off, so what better way to start than some quality time in the lands of Azeroth? My big excitement yesterday was “BC Raid night” with my current guild Daes Daemar – we did, in order of appearance:

  • Gruul’s (with someone else tanking Krosh!),
  • Magtheridon (with me winning his head!),
  • Black Temple (full clear, FTW! The sweep, the scale, the lore, the music!).  In spite of having a biggish group of 80’s it turns out muscle alone won’t always win.  A wipe or two just to keep us honest and to give us a moment to say “yeah and here’s how it’s really going to go down this time” but at the end all lay dead and the rather condensed but still legit achievement was ours who hadn’t gotten it…. and thence to
  • Kara for Prince who lay dead at someone else’s hands.  So we killed Nethersprite in the middle of the first round of beams and then Nightbane from the air while he spewed adds at us.  He has to land to die, turns out.

All with one main healer and a couple part time helpers, and 15-20 guildies.  A good time was had by all. It was especially nice for me because I haven’t been raiding, don’t really know the raid leaders or their style and this was a nice low pressure way to get to know them better.

One funny moment was before starting when I got into ventrilo (voice chat for those not of the MMO variety).  I said hello and one of my guildies said “what? quilt? you’re a girl?”  LOL!  Since there were three -ahem- women in vent and only two guys at the time we had a pretty good time with that.

Updates galore

House work progresses.  Trim, screens, final coat.  A few more days of cooperative weather and we’ll be good.

Cats – all kicking.  Archie had a few under-the-weather days but seems to be better.  I remember a couple cats in the past would just go off their normally iron-clad tums and need a couple days to build their eating stamina back up.  He looks perkier though so I’m crossing my fingers there.

In the neighborhood.  I’ve had several sightings of my local this-year’s fawns.  They are soooooo cute.  They jump straight up and down on their spring-loaded legs.  You can almost see the does heave a collective sigh – when will they calm down or at least take a nap.

And today – new cat in the neighborhood – Snow leopard!

Sometimes things aren’t easy…

Hard mode is hard. Some hard modes are harder than others. Then there’s Algalon the Raid Destroyer. He feeds off of your tears. – Valnoth (Found on wowhead.com)

Tonight Holly, Rich and I, with 3 others from their guild threw ourselves at The Black Knight a whole lot of times.  Eventually he fell down dead and stayed dead.  Those of us left standing at the end rezzed the others and well…. see it for yourself.

Yeah, sometimes things aren’t easy, but it sure feels great when you figure it out and get it done!  Good job team!
