I wrote another 348 words or so today at lunch time and who knows, I might even write a few more later tonight, but yesterday after I crossed the NaNoWriMo finish line I kept writing all night. I’ll have to set up my own system of figuring word counts and progress because those silly little bar charts are way more motivating than I could imagine.
The End – Of November & NaNoWriMo
Get a ukulele!
I remembered to go get the lyrics to this Ukulele Anthem which was the ending of The Art of Asking audiobook (there are advantages when a musician does a book and then makes it an audiobook!)
From Ukulele Anthem, by Amanda Palmer
See what happens when you muzzle
A person’s creativity
And do not let them sing and scream
And nowadays it’s worse ’cause kids have automatic handguns
It takes about an hour to teach someone to play the ukulele
About the same to teach someone to build a standard pipe bomb
YOU DO THE MATHSo play your favorite cover song, especially if the words are wrong
‘Cause even if your grades are bad, it doesn’t mean you’re failing
Do your homework with a fork
And eat your fruit loops in the dark
And bring your flask of jack to work
And play your ukuleleUkulele, thing of wonder
Ukulele, wand of thunder
You can play the ukulele, too
In London and down under
Play joan jett, and play jacques brel
And eminem and neutral milk ho-
Tell the children
Crush the hatred
Play your ukulele naked
If anybody tries to steal your ukulele, let them take it

But you know, there’s that moment where you see the end coming and you’re just not certain you really truly want it to come. You pause. And you push the button anyway. Because that’s what November is all about.
Time for a break and then, more words. Wrimos and NaNoWriMo.org guys, love you!
The End is Nigh
The end is coming. Luckily it’s at the point of a beginning for the characters but it’s been a big pile o’words to get here.
Today, the daughter of a co-worker came in and interviewed me about writing. I felt like a celebrity. She had good questions and I hope I gave her some good answers. I mentioned persistence and doing little bits to add up to a
Here’s where I am right this second:
What’s left is the normal daily goal. There’s more story to tell, the big finish. The big happy. Everyone lives happily ever after, after some minor squabbling and a few stumbles. Then the real work begins.
