Yup, that

I am falling over with tiredness. I was trying to write but either my eyes kept closing or I kept staring at the screen thinking “wonder what happens now?”. I did some words but not many. It’s ok. I’d purposely built up a reserve knowing that not much gets done on Thanksgiving. Back to work in earnest tomorrow.

Stole this from Sandy’s blog because it’s perfect and if I post it on my blog maybe I can refer to it as needed.

So night all. See you tomorrow. Save your dollars and shop local in your small businesses tomorrow and Saturday.

He studies a single blade of grass. But this blade of grass leads him to draw every plant and then the seasons, the wide aspects of the countryside, then animals, then the human figure. So he passes his life, and life is too short to do the whole. โ€” Vincent van Gogh

Greetings from Veggie Central

Sadly there was no squash throw last night. I only saw one blue hubbard and it was a while ago and I thought – I can wait. So we did have squash of the butternut variety but no squash throwing in the moonlight.

We had roasted squash, brussels sprounts, mashed postatoes, green bean casserole and all the other fixings so we didn’t go hungry. And waiting for me at home is a big pot of turkey stock. That’s a no-brainer while you’re doing the veggie thing.

Thank you

After reading yesterday about pal Sandy’s close encounter with a truck, I am particularly thankful for the hay truck who took the corner at 66 and rte 13 too shallow and too fast giving me moments of waiting for my drivers side corner to be demolished (I was stopped to turn left onto 20).  Well, I’m grateful that there were apparently a few inches to spare.

He should be grateful that he got to curse me out all the way to his delivery for laying on my horn rather than having to deal with me standing on the pavement. I’m sure there was a lot of “there was PLENTY of room, stupid woman drivers”. Let me tell you: there was NOT.

Day 24, NaNoWriMo

Happy writer’s group at Professor Java’s tonight. Sprints and talking sprints and I got a chance to talk through my timeline dilemma which did make it clearer in my own head. It’s all down in words and can be re-arranged later, was the conclusion reached.

Meanwhile, the soft, lumpy package from the Office of Letters and Light remains sealed. Sealed, I tell you! Waiting for the moment…

AFP and From the Quote Box

I’m listening to Amanda Palmer’s The Art of Asking (audiobook, author narrated) and it’s had me laughing and crying for many hours of commuting now. Today on the way home she was talking about non-successful crowdfunding projects. You can’t really expect the greater internet universe to fulfill you heretofore secret wish to move to another country and start a new life. If you’re lucky, your friends and family might chip in something for that. You need to have enlarged your own universe by sharing yourself and sharing the lives of others and to connect with people about things that you have in common be it art or life. Be honest, be open, ask for input, offer help, trust, be trustworthy. It’s quite the read or listen no matter what you’re doing.

If you want a taste of the idea, check out her TED Talk:

So the Quote Box over there on the right offered this just now:

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light. โ€” Helen Keller

Faith, trust, willingness to hope… yup. That’s it. Be willing to ask someone else for something. Be open to them giving it. Take it. Thank them. Be open to other people being the same as you – human – and ask them to accept your gift too.
