While I’m posting odd bits of paper, I’m slipping this in. In part, I’m doing this so I can have a findable digital version.
There’s been many a time when I’ve wondered: when the heck did I get my trusty 1260? Now we both know: 1994.
Thanks mom and dad.
I think there’s another digital version of that receipt somewhere, because I remember trying to decipher that scrawled line at the bottom.
You are so correct! I posted it to Facebook. I am such a goof. I’m too tired and I
going to sleep. Thanks holly!
One scrawled line seems to say ____service and the other deposit. I love a challenge. Maybe it isn’t meant to be read. Love Mom
I’ve got one too! The receipt for a sewing machine bought at Knight’s, 3rd floor 112 State St Albany NY. 13 April 79! (Sold to “Warm-Hearted Dinosaurs….) I bought it used (it was new in 1973 according to the warrenty card that came with it) and I still use it, except when I’m sewing on my featherweight, which is, of course even older. 1 Elna SU $391.10 and worth every penny! Harriet Hargrave workshop yesterday, wishing I was also in the one this weekend, but I didn’t find out about it in time, sigh.
that machine sure has some mileage on it. I still have my featherweight but it’s rarely used these days. I have a Juki that I use for piecing and machine quilting too – slightly bigger throat.
Didn’t your Mom find you the featherweight at a yard sale? I keep looking…. Why I don’t know, I have 2 already. One I bought in Pullman, the other Richard’s mother gave me, she’d had it since it was new. Do you have the book “The Featherweight 221 and I” by David McCallum?” It’s a super book of how to completely take apart, repair, service, and spruce up a featherweight. He’s a nice guy, too, helpful on the phone…lives a little way north on here. http://www.featherweight221.com
Back to sewing, in a few days I’ll be clearing the sewing room (aka guest room)for company. Memorial Day weekend is the NORTHWEST FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL! The 40th year…I was at # 2…and many, many since. So much great dancing, music, and fun…you should come sometime.
I think our guild might have that book. I confess to looking underneath yardsale tables as I drive by… just in case.
