Thanks to the cabin fever weekend at East Side Quilters I was able to get all my squares sewn together yesterday and pressed last night and then trued up and pinned up today. Here’s another view.
I don’t do a lot of fast food anymore, but tonight it was late, I was tired, I still had to drive home blah blah blah. I had ducked into one of the “Bread” places in the outside mall I’d gone too, but apparently no one wanted to take my order, so I left.
Now I was really hungry and eager to start home. I figure – something simple from BurgerKing.
As I order, I ask — do you have hot chocolate? yes. OK, I’d like that for my drink. I pull up and the young girl has two bags. I look in the first bag – she says it’s my hot chocolate. What? Why is it in a big bag? I ask – isn’t it mixed? No.
It’s not already mixed? No.
“Um, I’m in a CAR — I don’t want to mix a packet of hot chocolate mix into an open cup of hot water.” I hand the whole bag back to her. She asks if I want something else. No not really. I want hot chocolate but I want it to be already mixed.
She says – you don’t want a drink? No. You’re going to be charged for it anyway…
At this point I say — OK then, how about I just don’t take the whole thing? How about that? (mind you, I haven’t paid for anything yet.
At this point someone else comes over and shows her how to change the order and delete the drink.
Now I ask you: would it have been impossible to say (even with a small amount of cheerfulness) – oh, sorry, I’ll mix that for you.
I come home and type in BurgerKing’s URL, thinking that having non-mixed hot chocolate in a fast food place has to be one of the silliest things ever. Here’s what I found:

So much for “Have It Your Way.”

But in February 2001, the possibilities offered in blogging were new and exciting. I’d found some great websites that turned out to be blogs and decided that this fit with everything I’d ever wanted to do on the web. It offers a great way to update your “content” as we used to say in the dot com biz while also providing a way for others to participate by adding comments. It allows past postings to remain accessible to viewers by doing the work behind the scenes of creating archived stuff. Blogger and other software allows for simple updates of your page design, clean and easy.
I had started my first blog in January 2001 as part of a grant I had to take photos and make quilts and to present that information and process on the web. That worked out really well
All in all, a great way to share the stuff of life – things seen along the way, fun times, cats, quotes, thoughts, etc. More of a diary than I’ve ever been able to keep up, although with none of the angst. Surely that’s a good thing for you, gentle reader.
