Live better digitally and here’s my paper business card

Ordered some new business cards from Overnight Prints – yes I still have some of the previous two models but yes I want some with the current quilt when I go to QN next month. LOL you have to go with the “it’s helpful to people to connect the quilt they saw with your name etc on the business card.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Had a bit of a hitch uploading my first file so I called and a nice lady didn’t laugh at me and went step by step until we figured out what the problem was. Easy fix and it worked like a charm.

Living better mathematically

According to my further calculations, if I post 26.25 posts per month starting May 1st, I’ll hit 2000 posts by the end of the year. What do you think – is it a challenge? I think – no problem!

It’s a side benefit of National Poetry Month that there’s some pressure… no not exactly pressure… to post every day. OK, yes I made a commitment to write a poem a day on two different websites, but my real goal is to write something every day and share it here.

What else happened today? I stopped at the local quilt shop. I had a 22% off one item coupon (and forgot to ask why 22%) and I needed some stuff for the upcoming getaway weekend. They had several fabrics that followed me home but I did manage to get the getaway stuff too. And so I got to spend a bit of time tonight fondling fabric and thinking about the next new thing. I didn’t start sewing together little squares. I didn’t even cut strips from the new fabric as is my want. I’ll throw it all in the wash tomorrow and then do that. Old habits but what can I say?

With Elaine asking questions about setting up her domain and site and blog and all, that has me pondering what to do to pull together my gazillion years of scattered web-building. Yeah time to make it into something a little more up to date. Not this part – I’m pretty well pleased with this here blog and how it works. I do want to rephoto a lot of my quilts and get them up on the web for viewing and to re-org my info and other pages. They stretch across too many hosts and styles etc etc etc.

National Poetry Month Day #21

My Art and His

I sew together
little pieces of fabric
into things
hard for me sometimes to believe.
I listen to
Paul Simon
now older, like me.
His art incredible.
He god-like
but familiar.

That little lightbulb moment

Sitting here fondling some new and not so new fabric, looming at the two recently-almost-finished quilts when I think: there is not much that makes me happier than hanging up a quilt and having it be…. Really really flat.

I probably should get out more.

National Poetry Month Day #20

Holy cow. Day 20. My brain is fried. I read on one guy’s site that he doesn’t like “revelatory” poetry. OK. That narrows it down then, eh? LOL made me laugh.

Today’s prompt was useful because there was really nothing worth saying in my head. NaPoWriMo’s prompt was a structure which once I got the first two lines done was very helpful.

Who marks the sun and writes the sky
And takes the tally of the bursting sky?

The strength of arm to whirl the seasons
And push the clouds across the sky

The steady hand to place each star
As jewels to dazzle the belovéd sky

The quiet mind to hear the songs
thrummed by wind, pilgrim to the sky

Power builds around the grey-black banks
anger tossed to the feet of the sky

Needs no faith nor theory of creation
holds the reins of time across the sky

Tips the sun over the dark hills
Pours light brilliant at the edge of the sky
