Ooops she’s not done yet

Got up this morning with best intentions of heading off to work and sat down. And sat down. And sat down.

Decided that if I was that wobbly walking around ‘with intention’ it didn’t bode well for going to work and successfully staying and driving home afterwards so I called in. Hopefully this is it.

I have no Harry Potter dreams or escaped livestock to report on this morning so as soon as I feel less wobbly I guess it’s time for juice and other invigorating fluids.

You are free to slowly move about the cabin.

Attention! Attention! This was not a dream…

No one even flinched yesterday when I mentioned my Harry Potter dream. Not a peep.

All righty then.

This morning around 5… it was about thirty before light I figure… I was asleep. Go figure. I know you’re shocked.

Anyway, I woke up because there was this sound that was vaguely familiar but even as I thought I recognized it, I looked at the clock and the time and out the window, and it’s dark. I put my face up to the screen like I’m going to see something out there despite the dark.

It was really dark. I lay myself back down and wondered if I was dreaming again. In a little bit, it’s light and there’s that noise again and I look out and yes, there is a small herd of horses running down the road in the direction of route 20. This time I was sure I wasn’t dreaming.

Horses, running around by themselves! What to do. I like horses and all but me against a herd without a plan… I didn’t hear any squealing tires so I hoped they belonged to the folks by the post office with their too-small paddock.

I waited a few more minutes and here came the sound again. This time the horses, a woman, a big truck with flashing lights and another truck. The horses take a left up onto Thompson Lane and then return and the whole group proceeds down Kinderhook Lane.

Having decided that a)I wasn’t dreaming and b)I wasn’t going to be anything but out of breath if I went out there and c)I had no rope I could think of… I rolled over and went back to sleep.

Deirdre and Razzie taking a break. A moment later Molly jumped up, scared everyone and they all ran away.

Last Sonnet of NaPoWriMo 2013

Today was the day, haiku-sorting day
to take each small poem and describe it well
choose a category or two for each
ultimately to judge each one’s merit.
I poured all the words and lines together
let the computer pretty and tidy
poems written, a handful or two a day
more than I would have thought: there were many.
I suppose I could have rewritten them
one to a card, permanent ink and all
but I used the time all digital
to read and reflect on each set of three
Not enough categories suffice now,
I stir them well and look for shiny ones

I’ll just say that after I mushed around all 290 haiku from October to now into the database with the rest, I found it hard to assign categories I’d used before. I didn’t think it would be a good day to rank them – I know my limits! Some of them did make me smile.
