Attention! Attention! This was not a dream…

No one even flinched yesterday when I mentioned my Harry Potter dream. Not a peep.

All righty then.

This morning around 5… it was about thirty before light I figure… I was asleep. Go figure. I know you’re shocked.

Anyway, I woke up because there was this sound that was vaguely familiar but even as I thought I recognized it, I looked at the clock and the time and out the window, and it’s dark. I put my face up to the screen like I’m going to see something out there despite the dark.

It was really dark. I lay myself back down and wondered if I was dreaming again. In a little bit, it’s light and there’s that noise again and I look out and yes, there is a small herd of horses running down the road in the direction of route 20. This time I was sure I wasn’t dreaming.

Horses, running around by themselves! What to do. I like horses and all but me against a herd without a plan… I didn’t hear any squealing tires so I hoped they belonged to the folks by the post office with their too-small paddock.

I waited a few more minutes and here came the sound again. This time the horses, a woman, a big truck with flashing lights and another truck. The horses take a left up onto Thompson Lane and then return and the whole group proceeds down Kinderhook Lane.

Having decided that a)I wasn’t dreaming and b)I wasn’t going to be anything but out of breath if I went out there and c)I had no rope I could think of… I rolled over and went back to sleep.
