I resolved not one but two problems with this site and blog by realizing that the two things that weren’t working were connected to the same thing. As much as I love page views I don’t want to count my own visits and wanderings here and something had turned that non-counting-self off. The other problem was that there is normally what’s called an admin bar at the top of the blog when I’m signed in which has links to handy things like adding new posts, seeing stats and the like.
After checking all the minutia that the web suggested to fix the latter problem, I checked the settings one last time. Hmmm. In the beginning of moving quiltr.com to the new host, I’d had to show the full directory path in the wordpress settings, which is different from the site URL. Now though, the whole interweb knows that quiltr.com is all in one place. So I made two settings the same.
And voilà – both problems, fixed! I’m such a dork.
Edit and Update: But wait, there’s more! I also traced the error on submitting a new post to a single long-un-updated plug-in. Rummaged around and found a way to do the same thing and all is well. No more ugly error message.
So, are you now the Queen of Geeks? Regardless, I’m impressed!
