Part of your heart sags: why does it matter? is that the only measure of value, or perhaps my skill? Am I too slow? Or too fast?
Mostly these days I just shrug and if I feel a need to answer, I let “all my life” roll right off my lips. (I learned long ago that rehearsed answers are often quite handy!)
