I break for…

…almost anything before ironing commences, LOL. But the truth is that I’ve been too hot, bent on piecing deadlines, working hard at the day job, etc etc etc and have let a lot of stuff go in the past couple weeks. Tomorrow is trash day so it would be a good moment to clear and refill the frig (and ponder how to get back on the “bring your lunch to work” bus, work not having a frig at the moment – PBJ’s would work I guess or…) and take care of the cats’ needs etc.

So I’m off to do a bit of clearing up, cleaning up and whatever I can do for a few hours until I must clear off the ironing board completely and start ironing those little seams.

On a quilting note, I was surprised, amused and horrified at the size difference between the “border” areas of the quilt where the amount taken up by the seams is painfully obvious. Wow. Not that it’s anything I am not aware of it. I know that this monstrous thing that is hanging edge to edge on the wall now will fit into a much smaller space when it’s done. But to see it hanging there and be able to clearly see – this area will be THIS much smaller when it’s sewn together because it will be this same size as this area over here… Well, then.

I think what I’ll do is iron the first section and drape it in the sewing room. Iron the second section, sew it onto the first and iron that joining seam. Iron and add the third section and re-iron.

I know the feeling re: ironing. I was whining up a storm Thursday afternoon — “I haaaate sewing sashing! It’s so booooring!”
