a shawl of paisley
a swirl of thoughts beneath stars
sending out my love.
The day’s heat rose up
a wave overtaking night
whose sky drinks it up.
I push many squares
join each with thread to the next
watching it all grow.
The old tales I read
repeat each bold encounter
so we’ll remember.
Listen to the birds;
as night comes in the crickets
take the song again.
In the backyard dark
the moment of first firefly
summer has arrived.
Love it.
