A week of modern living.

I had two haiku inspired by real life events this week. There may be a third one brewing but we’ll see.

The first, an “I know I’m home sick but am I hallucinating phone calls now?” sort of experience:

what the etiquette?
I find I’m emergency
contact for my ex…

the second, true-life work experience:

Caps lock on iPad?
gently explain: ‘that’s shouting.’
‘LET THEM BE PISSED OFF.’

I’ve been pondering the third as haiku, although I normally do better when I’m sitting in a quiet room with a keyboard than in between questions at work.

Today a woman said to me, “Those shoes look incredibly comfortable. I’m tempted to kill you and take them off your feet for myself.”

I said, laughing a little, “Oh, these are my birkies – birkenstocks.”

She leaned closer. “I know.”

Me (trying not to be too creeped out), “But I had to go all the way to Ohio to get them!”

So there you have it folks. Fact is always stranger than fiction. Well, most of the time.

And to think that a year ago I was about to embark on my couple of months of whirlwind quilt show travels. Seems very long ago that I was in the role of the “famous quilter”.

These are really different. The thing about your shoes. Oh My how does one react to something like that. You did well. The first one. Just an oversight on his part. Like some don’t remember important documents???
