I have a surprisingly small number of dark brown fabrics.
Even stranger – where did all the off-white/light tan stuff come from?
Side effects of rummaging:
- found some long-lost skydyes and other mushy color stuff. This stuff defies putting into a single color bin.
- have a desire to go through the couple of bins of multi-color stuff in hopes of getting rid of stuff unlikely to get cut up
- have a desire to go through the couple of bins of multi-color stuff and cutting up stuff and sorting the squares appropriately.
- found a bunch of purplish fabrics and wondered why they were in with the browns (probably lack of space.
- Threw a few pieces into “large enough for backing” or “not on a bet – I mean, maybe you would like this?” piles
- If I can make enough of a dint putting fabric in right bins, will briefly ruffle through silk bags to check for dark browns
Several months ago I went through all my fabric, sorted and refolded into new containers. I actually weeded out quite a lot of “I’ve had this for 20 years, never used it, what WAS I thinking….” Much of it went to a quilt retreat with me to sell at the “yard sale.” I not only got it out of my stash, but had some $$ to buy other’s rejects that I can actually use. I wish I had done the sort sooner/more often.
Yesterday was a 3 county quilt shop “tour” with 3 quilting friends. We came, we saw, we shopped! It was a very nice day (I was caught in a sudden short-lived snowstorm Sunday eve, so a clear day was especially appreciated) and we drove all the way to Lynden (north of Bellingham)finding lovely fabric and other things in 10 shops, and collecting free patterns and quilt themed charms at each shop. I finally found what I want for making myself an umbrella. (3 more shops on Friday I hope….)
I’m enjoying your Haiku.
