Rethinking the beginning

Well I had a concept for the seasonal palette quilt but given the shortened time frame, I’m going to have to rethink the whole thing. I suppose if I were a cheery team player, I’d think of it as a challenge lol.

So, let it begin.

    I… I don’t understand. It’s not square?!

Five points to Naomi for recognizing a non-square! I wanted to put a few of these non-squares amongst my squares and needed them to be roughly the same bit of color, so in an alarmingly old-school, too-traditional-for-my-socks move, I cut a template. My plastic triangle ruler’s smallest triangle was too small.

The plan is to cut some of these, surround them with other fabric and then… well yeah, make them square LOL.

I’m hoping someone will see my hand-drawn cardboard template and bounce me out on my ear!

No bouncing on ears from my end. That’s actually quite a modern hand-drawn cardboard template – the dog ears are cut off. But please, go ahead and piece it together with a sewing machine. It’ll go much faster, particularly if it’s an electric machine.

Lol. I can assure you that if I’d lived in the day, I would have done what it takes to be first on my block with a sewing machine!

If I had to sew all my clothes by hand, I’d be pushing and shoving you out of my way. But it’s nice to have the option…I can go from hand piecing, to a treadle, to a “sewing computer” if I want. “Sewing computer” is such an odd term, though.
