Down to the wire…

detail of current quilt

OK chilluns – pray to the camera deities that my slides come out tomorrow! That was tonight’s project, photog to film and digital. Now to spend a bit of time with the entry form. Guess that means that title MUST be chosen.

Sometimes I have a working title but somewhere towards the end the real title is – I can only say it – revealed to me. Unfortunately, sometimes not. This is the latter time.

Go with the working title? Sleep one more night on it. Actually, I have at most another couple days. Eeeks!

This quote was just in my sidebar – love it:

Always lines, never forms! But where do they find these lines in Nature! For my part I see only forms that are lit up and forms that are not. There is only light and shadow. — Francisco de Goya

Update – got up bright and early this morning and headed off to the slide developer, plenty of time, right on schedule, time to reshoot if necessary. Get there – they don’t “do” slides anymore! eeeks! They gave me the name of someone who did but I didn’t have time to get there before work. Left work early and dropped them off, but that means no reshooting time available. I can still make my deadline, but that’s a little closer than I needed to be.

ummm, how about ‘windows’ for a title? Of something LIKE windows- maybe ‘windows’ in french or LIGHT FILTRATIONS or ummm, ‘Light Flirtation’! Whatever you call this baby of yours it is right up there in the spectacular column- love it to pieces. (sometimes I crack myself up) And especially thanks for the close-up! Really MaryBeth- this is a winner. Sandy

My first impression was NOT windows at all, but of fields and highways. Then I realized that it looked like the countryside as seen from an airplane, those fields and criss-crossing roads. Funny thing is that when I’m up in an airplane looking down, my thought is that the landscape is a good inspiration for a weaving project (that’s what I do). Now I see it as also good inspiration for a quilt.

    It’s beautiful, Mary Beth.

I like ‘Brush’ as the title, but might it be confusing? I can see people looking at it and thinking ‘brushstrokes’, which isn’t bad, actually, but not what you intend.

OK – well the fenetre of opportunity is open until monday around noon on this one. Since this quilt didn’t start with a plan at all, just a bag of fabric bits and a weekend with no project, any title is up for consideration. And maybe vague confusing titles are the way to go. Let people think their own thoughts about the quilt itself.
