Had a great time at the East Side Quilters getaway. We were in a new place – Christ the King Center in Easton – what a facility! Wonderful space, great food and accomodations and wonderful quilting companions. Always amazing to see how much stuff gets done.
I went with the main intention of getting all the handwork done on 36 – ie – finish sewing down all the facings etc. I was pleasantly surprised to see i’d sewn down the top sleeve (probably thinking it would hang better for photography if it was done – or something – I sure can’t remember!) so that left three sides. As an incentive, I brought along the next piecing project, and all those stacks of squares got me around the 3 sides of 36 in pretty respectable time. As soon as I was done, I put it away and set up the sewing machine, got out all the stacks of squares and started winging them through the machine. I came home with 30 some columns sewn together. I did a lot more than I thought I’d get done. Doesn’t look like much yet but it’s kick-started.
Mom and I had nice visits and visited lots of folks from the guild plus a few visiting friends. Everyone had a good time and we even had two vendors who came to keep us from being lonely for new fabric and gadgets.
Thanks all for making it a great weekend.
On the way home, I took a wrong turn and we had a back-roads adventure to get back to Rt 40. Saw some deer and a whole lot of beautiful scenery but I sure don’t like being lost, even with google maps on the iphone to at least show me which way I’m going! We made it home though. I think an outing with Mom just isn’t really complete without us getting to the highest piece of terrain available in the area.
Now to put everything away.
A wonderful way to remember our great weekend together. Our trip home will always be on the list of good reasons to get lost. The highest area around was spectacular. If we weren’t a little lost we would have spent more time gazing around. Spending Mother’s day weekend with you was very special. Thank you for sharing with me your quilting world friends for so many years.
