The big picture

I was driving back from FedEx and had this flash of how the big picture looks. I couldn’t really put it into visuals… so I’ll try to do my best in mushy words

The big picture:

  • Big mushy undefined space with not much going on it it. Maybe a little free-floating-anxiety surrounded by big areas of not much going on.
  • Tiny cracks of a glimmer of a thought.
  • Maybe a small sketch or two.
  • The darkness splits – A plan!
  • More notes. More pondering. A brief return to mushiness.
  • Work begins. Lot of light and focus although much night-time activity.
  • As the thing shapes up, and the finishing point is in the distance, time distortion. This is light bending caused by the feeling on the one hand that the end will never come versus the feeling that the deadline is tomorrow. All seasoned with a soupçon of “what if I get run over by a bus?!”
  • Eventually the thing is done, photographed, documented on forms. Forms dutifully sent with attached checks, photos, CDs, promises to serve and honor…. whatever.
  • All that continual compression and clarity brings us to
  • Walking out of FedEx empty-handed.
  • Done is done.

The rest, as they say, is waiting around.
