Get on with it!

Today is life-the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto. — Dale Carnegie

nothing is the same but change

I am too lazy to look up the french but you know what I mean – the only constant is change. Things around me have been changing and I feel it coming to me to decide for sure what the next realm will be for me – I’d rather have a say in it if I can. In the meantime, I am doing my best to stay the course, do my best daily, be in the moment.

Big knock upside the head

By way of Judy:

from East Coker by T.S. Eliot.

You say I am repeating
Something I have said before. I shall say it again.
Shall I say it again? In order to arrive there,
To arrive where you are, to get from where you are not,
You must go by a way wherein there is no ecstasy.
In order to arrive at what you do not know
You must go by a way which is the way of ignorance.
In order to possess what you do not possess
You must go by the way of dispossession.
In order to arrive at what you are not
You must go through the way in which you are not.
And what you do not know is the only thing you know
And what you own is what you do not own
And where you are is where you are not.

Wow. Thanks Judy – I’m often inspired by your blog and this was just a kick in the head.

schadenfreude on drugs

It goes without saying but I’ll say it anyway: A little later, I saw the black car with Massachusetts plates which had passed me in a no-passing zone just west of Nassau pulled over by the state police.

That is all.

Found in the archives

I found this while looking through mail for something else. Dated 25 January 2002

Thomas Dallal for The New York Times:
Occupants of 1 World Trade Center, which was hit first but stood longer, hung from openings as heat intensified. Later, as people inevitably fell, a child escaping from Public School 234 on Chambers Street called, “Look, Teacher, the birds are on fire!”
