Wireless redux

Gotta love Apple.

  • Plug Airport Express in.
  • Airport Utility Software finds it.
  • Set up new wireless network or replace a previous device with this one, using the same settings?
  • Please wait while it restarts.
  • Oops a problem – you should do this.
  • Please wait while it restarts.
  • OK. You’re done.

That was a whole lot better than my call to Fairpoint to see if it was a local outage after the big storm. Looked up the number on my iPhone. Pressed the option for internet support. That is an incorrect option. Horrendous quality hold music. Classical with constant interruptions of static and other weirdness. Person comes on. Asks for phone number. Can’t find account. Asks for name. You can’t find my account? No you called the wrong number. Really. He gives me the number I was supposed to call. I tell him I called the number on the web site AND the hold music is terribly messed up. Call the other number. Still can’t really find my account. Finally does. He sees my modem is working fine so he wants to do troubleshooting starting with please plug your computer directly into the modem. No thanks I say, that’s not going to happen because it’s completely on the other side of the house. Bye. At least he didn’t insist that I restart everything with a 10 second pause.

Anyway, back in business.

in 205 days – that’s how many blog posts to hit 2000 by the end of the year. I think it might be do-able! Just in case, I downloaded a wordpress plug-in by recent graduate and now-former co-worker Samantha to make sure I stay on track.

String of posts growing,
recording my words and thoughts
for you and for me.

Chatted with mom.
Scooped up gobs of delicious new quotes for the digital quote box.
Saw a photo of my Quilt National quilt on someone else’s site with a paragraph that just made me laugh at the pure ridiculousness of it.
Good times.

A work of art rests its merits in traditional qualities. It may constitute a remarkable feat in craftsmanship; it may be a searching study of psychological states; it may be a nostalgic glance backward; it may be any one of an infinite number of concepts, none of which may have any possible bearing upon its degree of newness. — Ben Shahn

The artist must be blind to distinctions between ‘recognized’ and ‘unrecognized’ conventions of form, deaf to the transitory teaching and demands of his particular age. He must watch only the trend of the inner need, and hearken to its words alone. — Wassily Kandinsky
