Theatre of the…

I’m not sure which was more confusing – the fact that I came home yesterday and my big pile of paper recycling had not been picked up or the fact that at 1 AM I heard what sounded like trash pick up happening, some bottles being dumped into something, a really big truck going by my house, and then backing up and, indeed, my paper recycling stuff going away in the big truck like it was supposed to. Guess I’m glad I decided to leave it out in case pick up was going to be today which, technically, I guess it was.

Coming home to the big pile of paper sitting there gave me a moment of inner talk that went something like:

I know I’m confused as to what day it is, but I’m pretty sure I put the trash out on the right day (Tuesday night, yes) and I’m pretty sure it’s paper pick up week (later, checking, yes) and so what happened. No message from trash pick up company which often robo-calls everyone if there’s a change in plans which I find helpful and a good use of the technology like National Grid robo-calling after an outage. There were other people’s trash out too so it wasn’t just me, I guess. But maybe they have a different pick up day. What to do? Maybe I’ll just leave it there until tomorrow since the weather says no rain, hopefully. Wet paper recycling bin = badness.

(and I had this long monologue without thinking about today being bloomsday!)

OK well, crisis averted. Paper gone. I needed it gone because it was the result of my clean out and I couldn’t really do more until there was someplace to store the next round til pick up day.

And on another thread of the stream of consciousness thing, what about the OED list (OK what about the fact that I have OED stuff coming to me via twitter and that I can access things like their new words/meanings list – that is just amazing to me, up there with being able to see images of beethoven scores via the museums they live in…); what about the OED new words/meanings list that includes:

greenswardsmanship

I need the meaning. I need meaning. I need more. I’m going to go sew long seams together and not worry about the fact that my neighbor apparently does mow his lawn almost every day.

My life, an inch and a half at a time.

Welcome and some odds and ends

20110615-231024.jpg

With the installation of site stats inside wordpress I can’t help but notice a bump in traffic coming from email and facebook and parts otherwise. Welcome and thanks for stopping by! Please feel free to leave comments — I do moderate but pretty quickly.

I was thinking about a bunch of things today and thought just how winderful it is that i can tell that fedex has delivered my quilts to Sacred Threads. Even better: that the show organizers shot me a nice email letting me know. Ah the power of the internet.

I’ve also decided to take the photo-silliness class which is only two weeks long. I screwed up when it started so i have a couple days of catch up to do. Looks like fun and different enough from the other silliness class which i appreciate. Stay posted.

The quilt in progress pictured yesterday is back on the wall. Will start those horizontal seams tomorrow.

Think I’ll wrap up here, go finish my beverage and maybe read a part of the book I’m chewing on Origin of Inspiration. Slow chewing.

Whole at last

Just sewed the last vertical seam. That means just one more bit of ironing.

Well, pressing seams while it’s cool enough for long sleeves!

A bit more about our trip

Pat mentioned at the end of our journey that she hadn’t even given thought about music because she figured we would do a lot of chatting. That was sure right. Naomi and I have a lot of shared web-stuff so there’s always stuff to chat about there (and our comments about all the boring “I posted to my blog” posts on QuiltArt apparently triggered a round of “why won’t those other quilters be nice to me???” posts. How traditional is that, LOL? Guess we can’t complain about no discussion for a few days.)

We had some chuckles over the comments made recently about pieced Quilt National works. All four of us had family, quilting, work etc etc catching up to do. Good times.
