In the mailbox. Woot!

and a few days ago, some earrings and necklace that I’d been admiring for awhile on etsy. Here are the earrings with a whisker. Seems to be whisker shedding season. I have no explanation.

and the most recent books that came in included one that I’d been lent by Drew, a co-worker (“You have to read this!”) which was so good when I started to read it that I knew I had to own it. Coolest book cover ever.

What to do next

I did spend a little bit of time poking at my NaNoWriMo at lunch. I have to say that I have doubts as to what is going to happen next. Just not quite sure. I’m afraid this is totally not action-packed adventure reading but I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.

I’m trying to keep in mind all the wise voices saying that even writing a little bit every day adds up to enough words over time. Just like making little tiny blocks. You make enough every day and eventually you have enough.

Yeah yeah yeah. I got it.

Friday, some remember it as TGIF

I miss weekends. I try not to dwell on it, but I do. I miss the regularity of observing a week followed by a weekend. Anyone who works or has worked retail is nodding their heads at this point. But enough of that!

I did get caught up on sleep last night and didn’t wake up to any dreams about poetry or anything else. Last night I was just too dragging to start with piecing, so hopefully tonight.

A little #haiku to go (to sleep)

last night haiku won
stole my sleep, took all my dreams
balled up my pillow.

Tonight I came home,
opened the windows again,
hoping to be cold.

the birds begin song
the dreamers sleep unaware
where night and day meet

The night is deepest
A bird calls to another
A car passes by.

Last night or today
haiku leaked out of my brain
onto my pillow.

What happens in the middle of the night

I wake up in the middle of the night (not a common thing thankfully) and my brain is racing (also not common) and what is it racing with? Haiku!

Was I dreaming about writing haiku? Haiku sprints? Literally every sentence I had in my brain was either 5 or 7 syllables. So completely bizarre.

I tried to roll over and go back to sleep and it just didn’t work. My eyes were wide open and my brain was leaking haiku. So I did what anyone fresh out of NaPoWriMo would do – I woke up my iPhone and the notes app and got them out of my head onto the screen and then I posted them to my blog which spammed them to the rest of the internet.

So apparently NaPoWriMo should come with a warning sticker that it may be addictive and should be tapered off, possibly under supervision.

In other news, I’m rather tired.
