sticking on last few tiers of brown squares while watching Brides of Dracula. What a movie! Hope everyone had a great Jubilee Celebration Day!
almost done
The beginning of #Jubilee #Haiku
Sparkly tiara
All-appropriate medals
Large gems are preferred.
I will be gracious
smiling, waving, shaking hands
those hands gloved always.
I can be serene
I know my role and yours too
polite behavior.
serenity is
a purse, someone to bear it,
a secretary.
Heavy the state crown
The title is not lighter
Service is the goal.
Mish Mosh of #Haiku
welcome to June. June!
The time between May’s entrance
and July’s parade.
Tonight the wind blows
shaking the trees and the clouds
brushing off the stars.
the wind blows past me
I pray for all the squares there
clinging to my wall.
A cat at my door
meows “are you in there, lady?
on the other side?”
Today, Jubilee:
ascension to Her own throne
serving sixty years.
And now the dangerous work…
…of adding the top couple rows of brown across the top of the design wall (without knocking anything off down below… that’s the dangerous part). Using a small foot stool to make me tall enough.
This is followed by the less comfortable adding of the bottom rows and corner pieces of brown. (I use the same small foot stool to sit on but it’s not quite as comfy)
I’d like to nominate…
The Stars and Stripes Forever, by John Philip Sousa as the new National Anthem. All in favor, please say Aye.
Hurrah for the flag of the free.
May it wave as our standard forever
The gem of the land and the sea,
The banner of the right.
Let despots remember the day
When our fathers with mighty endeavor
Proclaimed as they marched to the fray,
That by their might and by their right
It waves forever.
John Philip Sousa
