Night night #haiku

Store meeting at The Parkhouse in Washington Park. Nice building but hot and well, hot, tonight.

A hot night inside.
Outside a random cool breath
of air dries my face

I filled out the form to apply for a passport. It was amazingly well done and easy and lots of info about where to bring all your documents and forms. Who knows? I might win a lottery and go on a Grand Tour!

Ooops wiki article!

Many set out once
to make a grand tour: travel,
schooling, adventure.

Hi Ho! Hi Ho!

It’s off to work I go – late day and night time work meeting. Hence my doggedness in getting stuff done yesterday. Before I went to bed (totally wired and not very interested in sleeping for awhile yet) I hung the first chunk o’quilt back up on the wall in the “correct” orientation and admired how much smaller it had become. Oh the silliness of seam allowances. Losing a half inch of what’s originally two inches is quite the change! Smaller seam allowances are too hard to work with though for most things I do, so I endeavor on. (I do use smaller when inserting small strips and pieces.)

Here’s some haiku to hold you over while I ponder what to wear to work.

Beautiful sunday
but work requires my presence.
I’m off tomorrow.

The tasks that loom large,
the change that’s most frightening:
done in a moment

All right optimist,
show me how you’ll smile on this
or is it just spin?

Quilting and #haiku

I pause for ginger ale and haiku. I’m enjoying listening to The Scorpio Races while ironing and sewing. Audio books don’t fit with all parts of quilting, at least with me, but I am enjoying this one.

seams lie flat at last
the machine zips the pieces
back together again.

When I’m working hard
there’s not much time to look out
and see the world there.

As I sit and sew
there is much time to ponder
on what it all means.

All these years, quilting
small pieces and thread bound up
in color and light.

working and the day flew past.

Managed to get all the rest of the ironing done, and started sewing the first hunk o’quilt across the other way. Few rows done now. Guess I’ll go change the wash over – how productive is that?
