#haiku summary

June comes to an end
Although it comes every year
summer turns on it.

Very august heat,
strangely found mid-June this year.
Snow in September?

I laughed yesterday.
And today I laughed again.
What of tomorrow?

Nice words, a thank you
summarize unsaid reasons
for going to work.

Is love there, somewhere?
waiting just for you, somewhere?
make somewhere be here.

Two Observations:

  1. I very much want to talk like the knights and King Arthur: “Ha! You shall tell me the cause your extreme misconduct. Ha! is that you Sir Pelias? Certes this is very wonderful.” Yeah I could do that.
  2. Why does the bobbin thread run out just as I’m building up a head of steam, sewing wise?

The truth of the matter #quilting

I know there are people who make a lot of noise about “oooh you’re a quilter – you have sooooo much patience. I don’t have the patience for that!” etc. I usually reply that I’m a pretty impatient person. Once I start a quilt I want to see it finished to see it in real life. I’m persistent. I persevere. I can’t wait to see how it comes out.

But the fact of the matter is that there’s a lot of very repetitive work to what I do. (and there are quilters all over the world who are right now rolling their eyeballs thinking ‘I would NEVER make all those little squares and sew them together. SUPER boring!’

Part of me really enjoys that repetitiveness. Rather meditative. Still. Mindless.

And what do I think about, if I think about anything, while winging those seams through the sewing machine?

Why, about the next quilt, usually! Yep. Sometimes about what sort of quilting to do. Yep.
