If A is success in life, then A equals X plus Y plus Z. Work is X, Y is play, and Z is keeping your mouth shut. – Albert Einstein
Getting the balance right in that equation feels like you need to be Einstein sometimes…

I dwell in Possibility
A fairer House than Prose –
More numerous of Windows –
Superior – for Doors –Of Chambers as the Cedars –
Impregnable of eye –
And for an everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky –Of Visitors – the fairest –
For Occupation – This –
The spreading wide my narrow Hands

Here comes the end of August and another turn of the year and season. Enjoy what you see!
last days of august
some summer heat still ahead,
but cool crisp mornings.
dazzling shadows
where the sun touches the lawn
with a bright blessing.
slices of silver;
moon, peeking through thin slats,
crept up my window.
sorted through jewelry
the bits and pieces of life
and childhood gone by.
Fingering the things
found in the jewelry boxes
full of memories.
and then, because of a photo that Neil Gaiman posted in a tease about his latest story:
A pointing finger
three pointing the other way
thumb standing alone.
Following along,
dancing letters on the scroll
flying up to God.
The Yad, carved, ornate,
keeps the place, follows along
with the reader’s chant.
I think this is an original not a print. Postcard-size. I might have a frame for this in the other sewing room.
I can’t always reach the image in my mind… almost never, in fact… so that the abstract image I create is not quite there, but it gets to the point where I can leave it.
