A prezzie for the quote box (and me)!

From my pal Naomi:

I said to myself, I will not plant beans and corn with so much industry another summer, but such seeds, if the seed is not lost, as sincerity, truth, simplicity, faith, innocence, and the like, and see if they will not grow in this soil, even with less toil and manurance, and sustain me, for surely it has not been exhausted for these crops. โ€“ Henry David Thoreau

Thank you, and the quote box thanks you!

The Path with heart!

From the quote box:

All paths are the same, leading nowhere. Therefore, pick a path with heart! โ€“ Carlos Castenada

Looking for digital/audio book?

I found librivox.org a great source for public domain books. If you search their site and find an audiobook you want, check on iTunes because they all seem to be downloadable and still free there. A note: they download from iTunes as podcasts but at least there you can choose to download all parts (as opposed to their website where you download all the pieces individually)

I got a number of audio books and short stories from them for my online class.

End of August #haiku

The end of August:
at times still dog days summer
others, autumnal.

This morning, gladness
for the newly washed blanket
wooly warm on me.

The cats, all four cats,
each staked out part of my legs
for warmth in the night.

In a week or so
the trees will blaze color while
summer heat returns.

Upward!

Swifter! Higher! Stronger!

and if you want to sing along… (go here if you need a reminder and a big smile too!)

Had a nice dinner with my folks last night at the Lakeview and a quiet evening at home. A really nice way to end my few days at home and get ready for another birthday!

Birthday Dinner

and a haiku just because:

The end of my year
The brink of the year ahead
Can’t wait to live it!
