smashed to…

I like a good word challenge so when Sandy asked what a smithereen was, I didn’t wait around to be asked again.

smithereens —
pluralnoun informal
small pieces: a grenade blew him to smithereens .
ORIGIN early 19th cent.: probably from Irish smidirín .

so, noun plural because well if you’re blown to smithereens, you have lots and lots of smithereens, not just one…

as payment for this shred of knowledge, I am borrowing this lovely thought:

What’s the weather like?

Yesterday I replaced my long-mowed-over rain gauge and stuck it in the ground. This afternoon when I got home from car fixing, fabric shopping and visiting with Mom, there was 1.75″ of rain in the gauge.

I just had to unplug my iMac because there was a lot of rolling type thunder with an increasing number of flashes. I went upstairs and started ironing the new fabric.

Just now I went out and checked the gauge again and there was a solid half inch more in there. It came down in buckets!

what a good idea!

Found this while I was looking for an ice pack – the kind you can put ice into, not the gel like stuff you keep in the freezer. This was better than both those ideas though not quite as useable for ice packing sore parts LOL. But! Look at this – it has a narrow capped top for drinking out of (narrow so you don’t slobber it all down the front of you) and a wide screw off part just at the shoulder of the thing so you can actually clean inside.

How brilliant is that? About $10 at Target.

Geek mysteries

I hate it when the answer to my mysterious iMessage problem is basically obtained via Google. Who the heck knows why changing the network Service Order should make one iota of a difference but as long as that and a restart did the trick I’m counting it as good… grrrr. Thanks tonymacx86 for answer.

Could not sign in to iMessage.
