Day 9 NaPoWriMo 2022

A quick grocery shop, some laundry, some dinner and then…

Earlier today, the front window
was full of rain and yet I said
‘the sun is out!’
and we ran into the back yard
also full of rain
silvery with afternoon sun and rain
and there we stood looking โ€”
a rainbow, a double rainbow
arcing above everything
below that was lit with that
light that can only promise
what has been promised
a reminder that all is beauty.
We sent out the obligatory photos.

rainbow, double rainbow

Day 8 NaPoWriMo 2022

Today was a sort of rest day. No big plans.

The mailman left a postcard that had been traveling to me since February 26 during World Peace Poetry Postcards! A little scuffed but none the worse for having taken the extra long path! I like to think of it spreading a little peace and joy along the way.

Swung by the Hand Hollow Conservation area and watched the geese and ducks from the car. Came home and had the thought to clean out the car. A lot accumulates over a couple months even if you’re not doing too much and spring cleaning seemed to be a good idea.

last shoveling of
winter is not the sidewalk
but the car’s backseat

the hats and mittens
several scarfs and my parka
and the big snow brush

parka, umbrella
and boots remain against this,
early mud season

From the Quote Box

It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.

Day 7 NaPoWriMo 2022

I came home today. I had to unload the car and put stuff away. I repacked my go-bag, as one does, so it’s ready to go next time. For grins I checked the larger go bag from 2016-2020, LOL. I was closely supervised and nearly tripped up by my cat supervisors during all this. I sat briefly on the bed and was surrounded by two cats. I sorted out the new tarot cards I’d gotten and shuffled and regretted shuffling and did this on the other side of a closed door because… cats.

I don’t know if I’ll be getting any sleep tonight because… cats. Huge cats taking up most of the bed. But that’s the price to pay. They love me… cats.

I’ve been away.

They tell me, the cats,
you’ve been away
and we worried.
Even though you returned
to feed us regularly,
we worried we would starve.
We worried you would be sad
so we did our best
not to starve and wait.
We waited for you to return.
You’ve been away
and we worried.

administrivia

You may notice that the weird error message at the top has gone away and that the things in the sidebar are a) working again and b) only there once rather than multiple times. I spent some time yesterday focused mainly on getting everything working and the removal of dupes was easy to do along the way.

Apparently, the WP plug-in that lets you access widgets “in the old fashioned way” needs some massaging to get those widgets, apparently brought over without a problem, actually working. Not as onerous as it might have been. Now the cat cam should update correctly and the random picture actually randomize!

The weird error message at the top meant that the archive directory wasn’t **really** working in the latest version but the good news was there was a very similar replacement plug-in that did work.

Still some work ahead to bring things up to code but at least it’s functional again.
