This November Morning

A rare Friday at home. Went out to get the mail and bring out some stuff for the recycling bin and turned around to see a visitor who reminded me to fill the feeders and then followed me around for a bit, churring.

Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason so few people engage in it. — Henry Ford

NaNoWriMo

Even though I’m doing a rebel NaNoWriMo this year, re-writing and re-working my story, adding and editing I’ve been working hard. Today’s the first day you can validate your word count to win and I just couldn’t wait!

Hard not to want to hear these guys cheering me on.

Gratitude

Mom and Grace C. reminded me tonight I can remember to be grateful. So here goes:

Whoever decided to stuff olives with jalapeños — thank you!

Rainy monday, and everything

Went to the dentist for a double appointment. First with a hygienist who made sounds like my situation was dire and then told me to come back… in May. Then with a dentist who chatted non-stop with his assistant while preparing to get me a crowned tooth. I left in one piece but looking like I was stroking out. My face is still a bit pulled to the right but I can tell the Novocaine is wearing off (about five hours later). Back in a few weeks to finish that process.

Then went about my day. Ran across this quotable quote via Neil Gaiman:

Where there’s a monster, there’s a miracle. — Ogden Nash

Which really sums up much of fantasy and sci fi, eh?

In the past few days I’ve managed to read with editing through my entire NaNoWriMo piece for the first time — as one big, complete thing. And it was fun, in part because I forgot I’d thrown some of my own faery-related poems in and I’d also forgotten the very ending. Now I’m going back through for some things that came up as needing some work having re-read the whole thing.

I’ll confess I got a bit weepy towards the end. Part of that was definitely not believing that all these words came out of me but the rest was just because I was really rooting for the two main characters.

I wonder if anyone else has found a bit of quotable quote from their NaNoWriMo writing? I happened upon this and really like it:

There’s not a champion until there’s a cause. — Mary Beth Frezon, novel-in-progress
