What do you want?

Here’s what Robert Bly wanted one day, via The Writer’s Almanac

What is it that I want? Not money,
Not a large desk, not a house with ten rooms.
This is what I want to do: to sit here,
To take no part, to be called away by wind.
from “The Call Away” by Robert Bly, Like the New Moon, I Will Live My Life, 2015

Ink of different kinds.

With being in and out of home the past few days, I forgot to take a photo and report this cool piece I got from the mastermind of Dougside, for underwriting his recent re-printing project. Well done Doug – and love the haiku and the tshirt too! Thanks!

Last night, because I had nothing better to do, I found my various fountain pens including the wonderful and purple Cross. Put new cartridges in that one and a Sheaffer pen and got them running.

Tonight, because I had nothing better to do, I tried drawing a tree in my small sketchbook. I’m sure there’s a reason why I drew the horizon line first. In pen.

inking in the drawing book. (why did I draw that horizon line in pen?)

Re-visiting and editing

At lunch there was no internet, so after I finished my sandwich I popped up the 2012 NaPoWriMo poems and made an edit file of the month of poems. Started reading and they made me smile. I am making some tweaks and then I’ll save.

I don’t think I’m thinking the big thoughts that I’m hearing from the Yale Modern Poetry professor but what can you do? I’m not Ezra Pound or T.S. Eliot or any of those guys. I’m just me, scribbling down poems, that April mostly about fairy visitors.

You Can Pretend Not to Know Me

Yeah, I’m pretty sure you’re not at all surprised that the box on my doorstep today contained the sold-out-at-the-Clark show catalogue: Van Gogh and Nature. You’re only surprised I didn’t buy it in week one? Right.

But I can’t do anything but confess that the box also contained this:

Wait, you’re not surprised by that either? What’s that you say? Oh, YAMT, you say?

Yeah you’re right.
