Moved around slowly this morning into the day, but after lunch I figured I’d better do something with the first round of stock. So, I strained it into a bigger stockpot (yes, I do have a smaller and a larger one) and started it reheating. Then I hacked up the remaining turkey, leaving just meat in the frig and putting all the bones and stuff into the pot. That required adding some more water and carrots and another onion, more garlic and seasoning.
By the time it was cool enough to handle again it tasted great. I strained it back into the smaller stock pot and it fit just barely. Whew. Tasty. Next step – let it cool, de-fat it, and begin again with the veggies that will be left in the soup, add the meat and enjoy!
It’ll have to go back into the larger pot to do the final touches.
