What do they know about blogging? (nothing)

Now here’s some research worth doubting. CNN is reporting that there are “very few bloggers on Net

The study was largely based on random telephone surveys of 1,555 Internet users taken from March 12 to May 20, 2003. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

That survey found only 2 percent of users keeping blogs, although a preliminary analysis of follow-up surveys from early 2004 showed the figure increasing to about 7 percent.

uh….. yeah. Not only don’t I see that the study they’re reporting is very useful (certainly not all “internet users” do any kind of web page building at all let alone blogging), but you and I both know that if the headline was confirming “The impression out there… that a lot of the blog activity is very feverish” the rest of the article would be how blogging was going to end civilization as we know it.
