Well, I was looking into this image, posted on Sandy’s blog post about bunnies:
which I found pretty interesting and learned more about it here.
The wikipedia article compared it to triskelion and other symbols and then said:
Its origins and original significance are uncertain, as are the reasons why it appears in such diverse locations.[1] That the image’s meaning changes depending upon the context and the viewer could be characterized as being analogous to pareidolia;[2] its widespread appeal may be characterized as being a meme. Interesting: meme-like. Read it again. What the heck is pareidolia? (and that little image below is my flickr account avatar.
I was too lazy to go downstairs and get a larger version and I know I have other similar images with different “emotions” but it’s enough. I thought it was funny because the no-image default avatar for flickr is this:
