Thursday night after work I went down to Palisades Mall in West Nyack with co-workers Dianne, Drew and Steve to see the Hobbit at the midnight launch showing. We met, went to the Apple Store, got a tour, had some dinner and then got in line for the movie. We weren’t there for too long before the theater decided to let us in quite early. So we did, got our posters and found some seats, nicely in the middle.
The movie was great. I love the story of The Hobbit for a lot of reasons and even with the tweaks, I loved the treatment in the movie. The trolls and goblins and orcs were nicely portrayed and of course, the dwarves.
I’m sure I’ll have more to say about this in the future.
Dianne drove back to her house, and we saw quite a number of large shooting stars from the Geminids and chatted all the way back about the movie and work. Then I got in my car and started the last leg of my trip. As I came into Nassau I was feeling a bit hungry and realized I’d been up for about 24 hours, and it was about the time I’d normally be getting up to go to work in this holiday season.
No amount of coffee was going to keep me awake so I stopped at Stewarts and got a cup of coffee, just as I would have on a normal commute. Drove home, fed the cats and got into bed. Everything was strangely in reverse.
Woke up around eleven.
