I decided I was too pooped to hang out for a few hours so I beat feet to Penn Station and changed my ticket in just the nick of time to get on the 8:50. Phew.
It was a long day but it was a full work out: total brain cram at the Take This Job and Love It(soon appearing with a new title somewhere else it seems). It was great and they apparently loved my video and the fact that a quilter wanted to come. The other participants were very welcoming and also seemed quite pleased with the day. Some folks were there because their work paid for it! (James V. allowed that maybe the title was a stretch: “um boss, could the company pay for a one day seminar called…” LOL)
Afterwards we took photos, I thanked James and his Main-Man-Assistant Chris. They took some group photos and promise they’ll put some up for us to view.
Then I gathered my stuff and headed out to find dinner. I went to Bread Tribeca which was pre-dinner hour crowd-wise. Had the most scrumptious ricotta and spinach ravioli w/ Nut-Brown Butter, Sage, Toasted Almonds & Amaretti Great ciabatta bread and I went with a swedish pear cider. YUMMY!
I thought I needed a little something more so I went with bread pudding. It was incredibly chocolatey but not too sweet. Came with a side of a wonderful custard-like sauce.
Thus fortified, I started my walk downtown. I had a 7pm ticket for the WTC memorial. I had no inkling of the crowds or of the extreme security to get into the site. But it was all worth it.
After that I didn’t think I was good for a couple more hours so I took the fastest path back to Penn Station. Phew. Long day with a lot to chew on and figure out.
