The march of progress

Somedays I think – you could be making more progress… – but I know that it goes along at a pace, as long as you keep working at it, until it’s finally done.

Part of that process is to come up occasionally for air. Tonight it was for bobbin, cleaning and oiling and new needle. I confess I got distracted by videos for the online class and my brain never really got back to quilting. I did clean the tabletop. And change my facebook profile picture. You know, important stuff.

Among the other important stuff is that bit of time to hang up your in-progress work and look at it. Sometimes I feel like this part of the game is a whole dollop of infatuation and I can barely stand to leave my WIP or stop looking at it, thinking about it.

Draping it over a handy rod and peering at it is good though. I think it helps know what to do next. It helps show the whole picture rather than the handful of square inches between my hands under the needle.

All good. Now it’s time to turn out the lights and go to sleep.
