The heat and the humidity and the #haiku

I’ve been trying to quilt. Not so bad when everything is supported by the table but sometimes it just can’t be. It’s going along all right though.

In weather news, we had the first “real” rain in about a month today. Wasn’t very long but was steady for a few minutes. A day or so ago, what was called rain was really more like a very slow condensation because the air couldn’t hold any more humidity, LOL.

oppressively hot
humidity hangs on me
too hot for quilting?

I doodle with thread
the squares behind the machine
add up but slowly

when will the bobbin
spool out the end of the thread
measure of progress.

I slice the pink flesh
chunks fall to the plate
the green skin icy

first slice so juice-full,
rehydrates my lips and brain;
delicious feeling.
