Even though I’ve got an over-arching theme that I’m trying to write within (in an evil-plotted-effort to help out on the NaNoWriMo side of things) I’m still checking out the NaPoWriMo prompts and sometimes look at others I see posted. There are quite a number of poetry sites that post little ideas or forms for people to try, just to stir the pot or to offer a lifeline to someone who is stuck for a starting point.
Today’s from NaPoWriMo.net is quite good – broad, lots of background info about the form and freedom to do what you like. Not too hard, not too easy, just (write) right!
So, for our fourteenth day of NaPoWriMo, go forth and write something with fourteen lines. Pose a problem and resolve it, address a fair lady (or man), and rhyme or not as you please. The sonnet is both tight and expansive — it can accommodate you! Have at it, and take your place in a long and continuing line.
Putting on thinking cap while finishing my lunch.
