Marcel Proust called reading a “miracle of communication in the midst of solitude,” and that’s what the Internet is, too. It’s a place where we can be alone together — and this is precisely what gives it power.
This has long puzzled me – many interesting things happen when people work together through this thing called the Internet. Ideas get passed around, ideas get sparked; group projects, single projects, movements get created.
So, why doesn’t that same thing happen in the same way in real life. Certainly ideas and group projects happen from people meeting, but it doesn’t feel the same. And, it doesn’t seem to work the same way either. Lately it seems that everything is all about the collaborative effort.
This article in the NYTimes proposes that most creative folks are introverts and need that space to come up with new ideas and work.
That is some article. There is something to be said about working alone. I like being in groups. I work better alone.
