Why I like the quilting and #3

I love to admire the unquilted top. I won’t lie. I’m often enamored by the flatness of the top. I put off quilting it because it’s hard to let go of the flatness, but in the end, the quilting wins out. Why? Because I love what the quilting does to it more than I love the flatness.

While the quilting is going on, I get to enjoy the difference between the non-quilted areas and the quilted areas.

Indeed, one of the all around best things about quilting is that each step gets better than the one before. Fabric from the store is beautiful, but laid out in combinations is better. Cut pieces give a sense of the pattern, but sewn together brings it into focus. A flat quilt top is a delight, but the quilting brings it to life.
