Had a noon doctor appointment to get a rogue skin tag looked at. Verdict: yes skin tag, not tick, wow you have a high pain tolerance… come back in a week I may send you to a dermatologist anyway… ok. I’d not met this doc before but she had minus humor skills as I tried to explain how I couldn’t quite light, magnify, poke at, actually SEE this thing that was just a little too close, a little too weirdly positioned. I had a hard time convincing her that this thing hadn’t been this large until a couple days ago.
The whole thing was a little absurd, a little bizarre and a little surreal. The doctor with limited english, the huge tank of freezing stuff she pulled into the room, the frequent questioning to see if I was all right and exclamations over my pain tolerance skills LOL. Anyway it was all over in a few minutes.
Starting out this morning, heading out into this giant slush storm, I stopped for a bite and some coffee and sat next to a guy who was sad he couldn’t go ice-fishing… Then I toodled onward, past all the cars in the ditch (each and every one of which had all wheel drive LOL). Went down the steep road into the dr’s office past the woman who’d slid into a snow bank and was “digging out” with a snow brush. I would have just backed up but that’s just me.
Going back up that same hill afterwards was a whole different story since the car two cars ahead of me, a little CRX couldn’t go more than a couple feet at a time. no no no. A) you need new tires and B) you do NOT slam on your brakes, you straighten your wheels… So that took quite awhile.
Figure since I’m all that way I’d stop and get a replacement headlight for the 2002 Saturn and some groceries for me since it’s on the road homeward. Grocery store is quiet and well stocked so I’m in and out without much delay.
On the way home the roads had varying amounts of deep snow and slush with underlying ice. The only place I had a problem was at the 9&20/150 intersection where the light changed and I slid into an unplowed patch. I just let the cars go by and then pulled out without trouble.
Stopped at the Nassau Agway where yeah! they had my beam compass I’d special ordered (and they all thought it was way cool and maybe they should just carry them) and Grace, the “new” cat-in-charge came right over to greet me. I’d met her once before and she is definitely the right cat for the job. The previous cat was a short hair mostly-white calico who I’d describe as friendly but a bit slinky. Grace is a no-nonsense take charge sort of cat, medium-long hair dilute calico, friendly with those who are appreciative. Live long and keep a tight ship Grace!
When I got to the top of Lord Hill there was one car sitting on its side in Bailey’s front yard and another one being put on a tow truck. On the east side there was a string of tractor trailers cooling their jets waiting to go up the rest of the hill. Good luck with that. No worries the rest of the way for me and now I’m in and good to stay in for the rest of the day.
Some trip out. You needed a nap after that one.
Some people need driving classes for during in bad weather.
