NaPoWriMo 2026 Day 15

Well, thankfully my taxes are done and gone because I really needed coffee this morning (noting a certain trend this month LOL), I don’t mind though because my haiku practice is all about noticing the things around me so it makes sense that my brain is bringing that to NaPoWriMo no matter the form.

wrinkled with sleep I am waiting,
listening to the crescendo —
water coming to a quick boil
in the kettle, it quiets then
still fully bouncing with bubbles
I put my hand on the handle
cool and vibratory just as
the kettle judges that’s enough
and it clicks off. But the water,
still rolling in its excitement,
leaps into the waiting french press
landing softly on the soft grounds
now as we wait again I’ll fetch
a clean cup and inspiration

Photo: a glass electric water kettle is sitting on a counter with a mixer in the background. The kettle has a black handle and lid. The water inside is beginning to boil and is lit from the kettle base with a blue light.
