check list

Off work today.

DMV to get enhanced drivers license. Get there ready to get a regular one if all my paperwork isn’t ok. Lady at information counter looks over all my possible proofs of who I am, where I came from and where I live, asks a few questions, gives me a form and a number and I’m good to go. Don’t even get half the form filled out and I’m signalled to the first of two stops.

The lady there looks over everything and brings me over to a scanner where she makes a digital copy of all that. She offers me a new photo so we do that. Then gives me a new number. I go back to work filling out the form.

BING – called up to second stop of process. Younger woman lays all my pieces out and looks them over, looks over the form, asks about my first name and address. Confirms I want to be an organ donor. Gives me back all my proofs, takes my credit card, hands me my temporary license and I’m on my way. 20 min tops. Many furtive angry glares from the people waiting for whatever at DMV.

What can I say? I knew if I didn’t have everything I needed I wasn’t getting anywhere. To be honest I always have had good experiences going to DMV – so no complaints there.

Then it was off to Delmar for a lovely lunch with my Tripod manager Mike Merrill. Thanks to many recommendations, we met at the Four Corners Luncheonette (A Verdant Oasis in the Gustatory Badlands) and it was FABULOUS. great food and a live pianist. Just soft soft music – nothing intrusive. We had a nice get together and catch up.

Then, having gotten there with google maps on my iphone, I used the same method to get to Log Cabin Fabrics in Ravena. Got the fabric I needed and I was on my way.

Quick stop at my local farm stand to get some corn, tomatoes and such and now I’m home and ready to sew.
