Thanks to The Writers Almanac:
…yesterday I heard a new sound above my head
a rustling, ruffling quietness in the spring airand when I turned my face upward
I saw a flock of blackbirds
rounding a curve I didn’t know was there
and the sound was simply all those wings
just feathers against air, against gravity
and such a beautiful winning
the whole flock taking a long, wide turn
as if of one body and one mind.

A great read. The Almanac also goes on to talk about the history of May Day. My thoughts went out to Morris Dancers out there at dawn, waking up the earth and celebrating the Spring!
When I was young May Day was a basket of flowers on a neighbors door. Later it was mass and a march from the Cathedral to the front of the capitol in Albany. Praying for peace . Hundreds of people were there. Love Mom
PS At Brant it was back to putting flowers in baskets on Vic,Mildred and Isabel’s doors.
