Signatures

I love to sign my name. I’m in awe of how popular authors manage to sign many thousands of books. Surely you practiced signing your name at some point in your life. I did!

I don’t remember practicing writing my name, but I like to sign it and dot the multiple “i”s I hate signing at the grocery store. Ugh!

    Oh! What a good piece!

I love to sign my name. When I was in 7th Grade I totally reworked my handwriting. It was angular, scratchy, and clearly not up to snuff in the superior opinions of the nuns who gave us actual grades for our penmanship. I still love my round, flowing, opinionated, somewhat egotistical signature.

Sure, my writing has evolved over all those years. It no longer slavishly mimics the careful letter ranged over the chalkboard in our classrooms. Its origins are evident!

    Footnote:
My handwriting and, therefore, my signature are slowly degenerating. I inherited “essential tremor” from my Dad, who found it really annoying later in life and hated then to sign anything. His pre-tremor writing was strong, graceful, sensitive, like him. It is not an easy transition, as many aren’t. I can still sign my name the way I want it some of the time. Learning tricks to fend off the inevitable for a bit longer!
