I’ve been watching the videos from James Patterson’s Masterclass. You might have seen the ads for it whizzing around everywhere you look, like Facebook and the like. I don’t think I’ve read anything by him but I was willing to listen to his ideas and thoughts. Each class has a video and a PDF with things to do and there’s a course guide with more information.
I believe you can always learn something from someone and the price was pretty low in the range of courses online and otherwise.
So far so good. I’m giving it a thumbs up! Although I’d say I fall heavily into the “pantser” school of writing his description of how he outlines and why made sense to me. Up til now I just couldn’t see spending a lot of time doing that. Sometimes I do sketch out a short list of planned scenes and actions if I’m having a problem getting to the next thing. Just bullet points. I’m not sure if I’ll try it in the future but at least I understand a way to do it. I didn’t get it before. I also got some valuable ideas to think about for characters.
So, onward and upwards!
