Last night when I opened the front door to chase 2008 out and welcome 2009 in, no cats were interested in heading out. Why? Perhaps because it was 3F?
Nonetheless I kept my own tradition and went outside to see the turning of the year.
It was indeed cold out, but not as windy as predicted. It was breezy enough to make everything in the sky twinkle. On the ground, the trees sang out from time to time in their low, quiet voices. Some of the top-most smaller twigs chattered.
When I got good and cold I went back into the warm house, knocking the crunchy snow from my shoes. Then I shared a bit of port with the new year and we began our acquaintance.
Mary Beth,
Happy, Happy New Year to you! Glad you’re back blogging! I’ve always enjoyed your thoughts and your writing.
Working on some genealogy mysteries. Much fun. Sometimes throw-something-at-the computer kind of fun and exercise!
My cats would do the same thing, you know. Grey, yes. Moira, emphatically – except for the time she went AWOL – but that was summertime. Noel, still recovering from being found on our deck on December 24 two years ago. And they’re all were strays.
Best,
AJ
