I have to say I’ve been one for sitting down in the evening and dashing off a poem or two, whether for postcards or not. The past week or so I’ve been trying something new, to think of a possible topic or two during the morning commute, maybe an approach or two -what comes to mind, yes or no or maybe. Then, at lunchtime or after dinner, when I sit down to write I can start to enlarge and solidify that earlier idea.
I suppose this may work better sometimes than others but it’s interesting to me to see what my mind can do with an idea over the course of a day. I like to suppose too that this little mental exercise is better for me than listening to yet more of the news and the opinions of others on it.
My eye is drawn to this or that bit of scene or sky or to an idea and it has a nice chunk of time to play with it while I drive to work.
