this explains my current situation. Here’s my normal set up that worked ok, up til yesterday.
I tried two other splitters without a difference (and no, I didn’t daisy-chain the splitters). I tried a different phone cable to the cable modem. No change. I plugged just a phone into the splitter and the phone worked.
And then I tried this:
which resulted in only a power light and a DSL light that comes on for just a moment and then goes off. So, no DSL. (and yes, the cable modem was plugged into power)
Not so hard to grasp, eh?
- Plug in both things: nothing works.
- Plug in only phone, phone works.
- Plug in only cable modem, no DSL.
